LC- How do you choose your subjects? Is it a reasoned or an instinctive process?
MR- I let the images manifest themselves, and then I address them in the various collections I have created over time such as Family, Reuse, Aporia, London portraits or Woman and Flower. Even if the images come from instinctive processes, in reality when I’m not painting I’m not listening, I visit exhibitions, I travel, I collect sensations, colours, shapes and emotions and thoughts which then turn into art..
LC- Are your artworks focused on a specific theme?
MR- I try to be totally free from constraints and very specific themes so as not to get stuck on a specific theme. I let the signs and colors come out of my hand as if I were the medium, as if I were a means to bring out the image itself. Once the image comes out I place it into a theme that has developed over time. This is how the Flower, Family, Reuse, Woman, Aporia, London Portraits collections were born. Sometimes they are a series that begin and end even in one night, such as London Forsets. Other times they last for years, but I don’t decide when they end. It could be that for several years I no longer paint a picture on some themes that have emerged to me, or that others will come. I’m already thinking about the theme PLACES OF VALUE that means something special to me, but I haven’t done anything practical yet other than some sketches on paper. I’m also thinking about how to enrich the Family theme with Family&Friends for example.
LC- What do you think about the organization of our event?
MR- It’s not every day that you exhibit in a 1400s palace in Venice on the Grand Canal, a few steps from the Rialto Bridge. But thanks to the perfect organization, which only ITSLIQUID provides, it made this experience even more magical. Guests and gallery owners from all over the world enjoyed the attention to detail and attention to people and their works which gratified everyone and left an even more intense memory of Venice, the artworks and ITSLIQUID.
